10 Ways to Show-Off Your Handmade Pants

You finally finished your leopard handmade pants, searched your wardrobe for coordinating items and found 10 ways to show them off.  Animal print ready-to-wear garments have been trending for more than a year and the fabric industry is keeping up with the trend.   In fact, it looks like animal prints are keeping pace with basic black which means you can wear them with just about anything.  These prints are an affordable way to add a little bling to your wardrobe.  Therefore you can sew your own handmade leopard pants and show them off.

The local fabric store in my area, High Fashion Fabrics, had a large selection of animal prints to choose from:

Fabric and pattern choice

I chose the 100% cotton, leopard print fabric below and found an out-of-print Chado designer pattern, Vogue 1347 in my stash and added some 100% cotton black lining.

Sewing fabric preparation

I preshrank both the outer fashion fabric, the leopard print and black lining  prior to cutting out and sewing.  There was a lot of color bleeding from the leopard print fabric and very little from the black lining.  So, it’s always a good thing to pre-treat your fashion fabric.

Putting handmade pants together

Some of my garment construction steps are included as reference; topstitching, putting in a zipper using a zipper foot, running cording through casing and hemming.  The tool used to measure, turn-up and press the hem is here.

Once complete, I went back through my closet and found a minimal of 10 different tops and jackets that can be worn with these new leopard print pants.
